Omaha World Herald, August 15, 1928: Kirkpatrick Injured By Hit-And-Run Driver. Skull is Fractured, and Possible Internal Injuries Suffered. A fractured skull and possible internal injuries were caused by a hit-and-run driver who struck K. R. Kirkpatrick, 33, of 3601 South Twenty-fourth street, about 9:45 Tuesday evening. This accident occurred near Twenty-fourth and H streets. He was taken to St. Catherine's hospital. His condition is reported serious. He had not regained consciousness at 1 p.m. today, and attendants reported his condition unchanged. Kirkpatrick, after driving from his home, had parked on the east side of Twenty-fourth street, and was crossing the street when hit. No one obtained the license number of the automobile. Dr. J. J. O'Hearne was called, and ordered him sent to the hospital. Kirkpatrick is a member of Kirkpatrick Brothers, Lundgren and Bulla, South Omaha commission firm.

Same newspaper reported on August 16, 1928 that Kirkpatrick was still critical and no improvement in his condition. Same newspaper printed a card of thanks from the family on August 22, 1928. No obituary found between August 16 note and cemetery records showing his burial on August 18, 1928.
