1552. James Douglas Kirkpatrick was born on 23 February 1867 in Cook's Ferry, British Columbia, Canada. James' mother was Thomas' third wife. His mother's name is unknown, though it is known that she came from the Snapah Indian Reservation. James grew up in the Cariboo country of British Columbia, and the Kirkpatricks were very well known in the area.

In the summer of 1894, James went up to Dog Creek with his brother John. The two ended up staying and spent the winter feeding cattle and doing chores for various farmhands in the area. That was where James met Emma Bowe, the daughter of German business man, Herman Otto Bowe. Emma and James were married in 1895.

There were eleven (11) children born of the marriage.

James Douglas Kirkpatrick and Emma Bowe were married on 29 July 1895 in Clinton District, British Columbia, Canada.⁴ Emma Bowe was born in March 1872 in British Columbia, Canada.⁵⁹¹

James Douglas Kirkpatrick and Emma Bowe had the following children:

2825	iv.	Francis Ludwig Kirkpatrick was born on 23 November 1901 in Alkali Lake Ranch, British Columbia, Canada. He died on 25 July 1963 at the age of 61 in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.4
