230. William P. Kirkpatrick was born on 23 February 1806 in Edwardsville, Madison Co., Illinois. He died on 22 August 1885 at the age of 79 in Henry Co., Iowa. He was buried in Bethany-Hussey Cemetery, Lowell, Henry Co., Iowa. William was born 23 Feb 1806 near Edwardsville in Madison Co., Illinois, and died 22 August 1885, Henry Co., IA. He was a veteran of the Black Hawk War. In March of 1835 he moved his family to Lee Co., IA, where they were among the very first settlers of Clark's Point. He he farmed until 1853, when he moved again to Henry Co., IA. In Lee Co., he held some 320 acres before he moved. He took up 144 acres in Henry Co. Although ostensibly a farmer, William P. Kirkpatrick was also a Methodist Preacher.

He married Mary Pratt on 13 Jan 1831 in Morgan Co., Illinois. She was born 20 Sep 1810 in Cincinnati, OH, and died 23 Apr 1885, in Henry Co., IA. She was sister of Merial Pratt who married Joseph Lane Kirkpatrick, William's brother. Both William and Mary are buried in Bethany-Hussey Cemetery in Henry County. William was a Democrat.
