670. Ellen Barrett Butler was born on 19 February 1843 in Fairfield, Jefferson Co., Iowa. She died on 28 September 1925 at the age of 82 in Burwell, Garfield Co., Nebraska.


Ellen Butler was born 19 February 1843 in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa, and died 28 September 1925, in Burwell, Garfield County, Nebraska. She married on 22 December 1863 in Atlanta, Macon County, Missouri, to Andrew Jefferson Davis, the son of Melvin Hopkins and Permelia Lydia (Lockwood) Davis, who was born 31 May 1831 in Rochester, New York. He died 6 May 1905, Marceline, Linn County, Missouri.

In his youth, Andrew, in 1853, went to California, where he engaged in mining for nearly two years. He then moved to Missouri and settled in Clark County, where he began the study of medicine. He subsequently attended lectures in Chicago, and soon afterwards began to practice medicine in Clark County. He afterwards removed to Grundy County, Missouri where he remained two years. He then settled in Bedford, Livingston County, Missouri, where he continued his practice for four years more. From there he moved in 1866 to Bucklin, in Linn County, Missouri, where he practiced medicine until 1874, when he moved to a farm five miles southwest of Bucklin, and engaged in farming. In 1888 he became one of the earliest residents of Marceline, Missouri and lived there for the remainder of his life.
