William Thomas Kirkpatrick was born on 24 January 1812 in Jackson Co., Tennessee.13 He died on 13 December 1872 at the age of 60 in Franklin Co., Illinois.13 He was buried in Reid Cemetery, Franklin Co., Illinois.13 William T. Kirkpatrick. His middle name is given variously as Thomas and Tinsley. The compiler's of this work have verified that Thomas is correct based on tombstone inscription. William was born 24 January 1812 in Jackson County, Tennessee. He died 13 Dec 1872 in Franklin County, Illinois. On 6 February 1834 he married Martha Greenwood who was born circa 1813. He moved with his family about 1817 from Jackson County, Tennessee to Franklin County, Illinois, and apparently lived there the remainder of his life. He served with his brother Edmund under Captain William J. Stephenson in the Illinois Mounted Volunteers during the Black Hawk War.

William T. and Martha appear on the 1860 U. S. Census at Franklin Co., Illinois with their children Martha, George, Nancy, John and Ruth. William T.'s occupation is farmer.

William Thomas Kirkpatrick and Martha Greenwood were married on 6 February 1834 in Jackson, Madison Co., Tennessee.4 Martha Greenwood was born on 14 April 1812 in Tennessee.13,42 She died on 23 January 1887 at the age of 74.13 She was buried in Reid Cemetery, Franklin Co., Illinois.13
