A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1999, in St. Frederick Catholic Church in St. Helens for Florence Pennell, who died March 11 at age 84. Mrs. Pennell was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Pullman, Wash. Her maiden name was Getchell. She moved in 1934 to St. Helens, where she operated a coffee shop and an antique business and worked as a physical therapist at Columbia County Hospital until retiring and moving to Mesa, Ariz., in 1978. She moved to Tigard in 1993. She became a Life Master bridge player in 1997 and was a member of the St. Helens church. She married Leland "Lee" in 1936. Survivors include her husband; son, Bill of West Linn; and two grandchildren. Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Omega Funeral & Cremation Service.
