John Ellsworth Kirkpatrick was born on 25 June 1891 in Cozad, Dawson Co., Nebraska.651 He died on 27 August 1953 at the age of 62 in Railroad Crossing North of Denver, Colorado.177,1257 He was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, Jefferson Co., Colorado.111 On the U. S. Census 1930 of Laramie, Albany Co., Wyoming he is listed with the last name Elsie. He changed his name when another John Kirkpatrick was working for the same railroad. John is with his wife Hattie, son Loyd and daughter Eva Mae. Their oldest daughter Dorothy is in the same town with her husband Gustaf Carlson.

John was a train engineer killed in train accident near Denver in 1953 from copy of train wreck photo given to us by Eileen Martensen.

John changed their last name to Elsie because of another person working for the railroad with the same name.

John Ellsworth Kirkpatrick and Hattie May Jenkins were married on 24 October 1909 in Gothenburg, Dawson Co., Nebraska.1253,1258 Certificate of marriage shows they were married at Anton Jenkins' home by J. Walter Morris, minister. Witnesses were R. P. Anderson and L. H. Klein (Louis Henry Klein]. Hattie May Jenkins, daughter of Anton Jenkins and Ida Mae Tompkins, was born on 3 March 1889 in Gothenburg, Dawson Co., Nebraska.177 She died on 14 September 1959 at the age of 70 in Lakewood, Jefferson Co., Colorado.177,651 She was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, Jefferson Co., Colorado.111 Hattie was Jewish as stated by her daughter, Dorothy Violet Carlson. Dorothy herself spoke of going to Temple in the Denver, Colorado area.

Lloyd Ellsworth Kirkpatrick was born on 5 April 1917 in Laramie, Albany Co., Wyoming.1259 He died on 6 May 1998 at the age of 81 in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado.1260 Also used the last name Elsie as did his parents.

Rocky Mountain News, Colorado, May 10, 1998, Lloyd Elsie, 81, of Denver died May 6. Mr. Elsie was born in Laramie on April 17, 1917. He was an auto mechanic. There are no survivors.
