John married on 21 October 1942 (text supplied stated 1932, but that is not possible, marriage certificate states 1942), to Julia Twist at St. John's Methodist Church in Memphis. Julia was born 4 November 1922 and attended Southwestern University at Memphis, Tennessee.

JULIA TWIST KIRKPATRICK, 70, of Memphis, formerly of Twist, Ark., died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a graduate of the old Miss Hutchison School for Girls and attended Rhodes College. She was a former member of Germantown United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kirkpatrick, the widow of attorney J W Kirkpatrick, leaves five sons, John W. 'Jay' Kirkpatrick, Scott L. Kirkpatrick, Frank T. Kirkpatrick and Thompson G. Kirkpatrick, all of Memphis, and Steve T. Kirkpatrick of Knoxville; two sisters, Marilee Stratford and Helen Thomas, both of Memphis; two brothers, Rex Twist of Forrest City, Ark., and John Twist of Memphis, 14 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

FRANK TWIST KIRKPATRICK, 47, of Memphis, died of heart failure Monday at his home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bartlett Funeral Home Family Heritage Chapel. Mr. Kirkpatrick, the husband of Patricia Kirkpatrick, also leaves a daughter, Judie Kirkpatrick, and a son, Sidney Kirkpatrick, both of Memphis, and four brothers, Tommy Kirkpatrick of Manchester, Tenn., and Steve Kirkpatrick, Scott Kirkpatrick and Jay Kirkpatrick, all of Memphis.
