149. William Kirkpatrick was born in 1777 in South Carolina. He died on 7 March 1856 at the age of 79 in Jackson Co., Tennessee. He was buried in Big Bottom Cemetery, Jackson Co., Tennessee.
William Kirkpatrick was born in South Carolina about 1776-1777. Along with other Kirkpatricks he is shown in green County, Kentucky, in 1799. In 1806 he married Kezziah Chisholm in Clay County, Kentucky. William is found in 1803 in Jackson County, Tennessee. Day Jewell opens the possibility that Kezziah's mother may have been named Gumm, but no proof is offered. Some authorities have a prior marriage to a Rachel Roberts. The facts are murky. Kezziah (sometimes nicknamed Kibbie) died 27 September 1845. William died 7 March 1856. Both were buried in Big Bottom Cemetery in Jackson County, Kentucky.
Isaac T. Reneau, a Disciples of Christ minister in Tennessee, wrote of a visit to the Old Bethel Church in Jackson County in September of 1845. In this account he wrote of the effects of an epidemic in the neighborhood.
"The seventh (to die) was that venerable old sister Keziah Kirkpatrick, consort of brother William Kirkpatrick. These were among the oldest members of Big Bottom having embraced the principles of Reformation years ago, perhaps under the labors of the pious eminent and able Phillip Mulkey. Sister Kirkpatrick had been sick some time when brother James Kirkpatrick died. But she lingered on till the 27th of September 1845, when she fell asleep herself, leaving an old pious and affectionate husband, several sons and daughters together with several grandchildren, and other relatives to lament the loss."* There were thirteen (13) children born of the marriage.

Kezziah Chisholm, daughter of James Thomas Chisholm and Mary Howard, was born in 1788 in Halifax Co., Virginia. She died on 27 September 1845 at the age of 57 in Jackson Co., Tennessee.
