There were four (4) children born of the marriage. W. Lee Siegrist, 79, of West Point died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at West Point Care Center. Born March 19, 1925, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Walter A. and Fleta M. Wayland Siegrist. On Jan. 11, 1947, he married Wanda Crabtree in Denmark. Mr. Siegrist was a sheriff's deputy in Lee County and sold insurance and real estate for Kern Insurance Co. before retiring from Dial Corp. in its security department. He was a member of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ for nearly 70 years. He also was a member of the American Legion, the Elks, was a county trustee and the former president of the Lee County Farm Bureau. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was active in veterans' reunions. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Neil Siegrist and Mark Siegrist, both of Longmont, Colo.; two daughters, Patricia Ealy of Fort Madison and Dana Pechin of Longmont; eight grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Siegrist of Waukon; and a sister, Martha Koehn of North English. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at King–Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Siegrist will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at King–Lynk Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Fort Madison. A memorial has been established.
