Bobby Childs entered the Air Force on January 1951, and was stationed for almost his entire service at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was discharged in December 1954 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his discharge, he went back to work for the Brown Shoe Company, for whom he had worked before is Air Force enlistment. This meant numerous transfers, and the family lived in Pocahontas, Arkansas; Trenton, Illinois; Owensville, Mountain Grove, and Caruthersville, Missouri, before he was transferred to company headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri in 1962. At the time of his retirement, he was a senior vice-president of Brown Group, Inc. In the early seventies, Mona began working for friends who had started a small business. She became bookkeeper, secretary, and computer operator, and ran the growing business when the owners were away. Bobby died on 30 November 1989 in St. Louis, Missouri, and is buried in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Mona is living in St. Louis (1994). The family belonged to the Church of Christ. Robert Barton Childs was born on 14 October 1930 in Pocahontas, Randolph Co., Arkansas. He died on 30 November 1989 at the age of 59 in St. Louis, St. Louis Co., Missouri.
